LEGO ONE PIECE Two-Part Animated Special Arrives September 29
A new telling of the voyage
LEGO ONE PIECE arrives on Netflix on September 29 as a two-part animated special. It retells events from the first two seasons of the live-action pirate series in brick-built form. Usopp narrates the Straw Hats’ journey across the East Blue and toward the Grand Line for Chopper, who joins the crew later. The premise lets familiar scenes be revisited through a character known for embellishing his stories.
What viewers can expect
Each episode runs about 30 minutes. The special uses comedy and visual exaggeration alongside the broad story beats of the live-action show. It is an adaptation of those adventures, not an announced third live-action season. Viewers new to ONE PIECE can use the retelling as an introduction to the crew, while returning fans may notice how Usopp’s version changes the emphasis of events they already know.
Voices and creative team
The live-action cast lends voices to the animated Straw Hats, including Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu as Zoro, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji and Mikaela Hoover as Tony Tony Chopper. Tom Hyndman is the showrunner, writer and executive producer, and Chelsea Ker directed both episodes. The project is a partnership involving the LEGO Group, Shueisha and animation studio Atomic Cartoons.
Why the format matters
The release gives the franchise another way to bring its expanding audience into the same world without requiring a full new live-action production. A condensed, playful retelling can help orient new viewers, but it also has to stand on its own humour and pacing. Its arrival is a release-date fact; audience rankings or viewership claims will require data after people have watched it.
