India women win Asian Games cricket gold with 147-run victory over Sri Lanka
India won the women’s cricket gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games with a 147-run victory over Sri Lanka on 22 September. The team made 216 for three in 20 overs, then dismissed Sri Lanka inside 16 overs, according to the International Cricket Council.
Smriti Mandhana led India’s innings with 79 from 45 balls. Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh supported the total, with Ghosh scoring 49 from 22 deliveries. The opening stand between Mandhana and Verma fell one run short of 100.
Sri Lanka’s chase was checked by early wickets. Chamari Athapaththu made 29, but Deepti Sharma dismissed her in the seventh over. Sharma finished with three wickets; Verma, Sree Charani and Shreyanka Patil took two each.
The result gave India a second successive Asian Games women’s cricket gold. Sri Lanka took silver, while Pakistan beat Bangladesh for bronze.
