London plans free Diwali on the Square celebration for 25 October
London’s annual Diwali on the Square is set for Sunday 25 October at Trafalgar Square. The free event runs from 1pm to 7pm, with no ticket booking required, bringing a South Asian festival tradition into one of the city’s most public spaces.
The programme includes an opening dance sequence with 200 performers and a main stage featuring music and dance from London’s Hindu, Sikh and Jain communities. Families can expect workshops and activities including sari and turban tying, yoga, meditation and puppet shows. A market and food stalls are planned with vegan and vegetarian options.
The event is open to everyone. It offers diaspora communities a shared city-centre celebration while inviting other Londoners to experience the performances and traditions. Organisers have also set out accessible routes, viewing space and interpretation for spoken stage shows.
Visitors should allow time for a busy square and entrance bag searches. The date, hours and free entry make it possible to plan a visit ahead of the October celebration.
