Google says its language tools now support interactions in over 300 languages

Google says its technologies and products now support everyday interactions in more than 300 languages, spoken by over 7 billion people. In a 15 September research update, it said that expanding language support requires more than translating written text.

The company says Google Translate covers more than 250 languages. It is also working on systems that better handle the ways people speak and express cultural nuance, including languages and dialects that have had limited representation in digital products.

Google frames this as a continuing research and product effort, rather than a claim that every language has equally accurate support. The figures refer to the reach of technologies across products, not a guarantee that all features are available in all 300 languages.

For multilingual audiences, the distinction matters: a service can list a language while still struggling with local expressions or mixed-language speech. The company says it is working with communities to improve representation and useful access.
