Android Enterprise outlines work profile, sharing and update controls

Google has outlined a set of Android Enterprise changes intended to let organisations manage mobile devices while keeping work and personal data separate. Its 23 September update describes controls for AI automation, file sharing, device updates and hardware security.

The company says built-in work profile safeguards are designed to prevent personal AI agents from accessing corporate apps and data. Administrators can configure or disable AI automation across managed devices through enterprise policies.

Google also describes Quick Share integration with administrative restrictions, and a centralised framework called Unified Update Controls for software updates. Some capabilities, including associated telemetry and attestable hardware identifiers, are described as arriving later in 2026, so availability will depend on rollout and supported devices.

Other features include support for external displays with multi-window desktop use on supported devices and management of extended reality hardware. These are Google’s product plans and descriptions; organisations should verify support and deployment details with their device and management providers.
